I remember the first time I saw this video.  I was in eighth grade, and I hadn’t really ventured out into the wide world of popular music and then I heard this song. And it changed everything.  I was hooked and I have been ever since.  The Smashing Pumpkins are still one of my favorite bands, and this is still one of my favorite songs.

Its a rainy day on Cape Cod.  Rain always puts me in the mood for Portishead.

Live at Roseland NYC is one of the best live albums I have ever heard.  If you haven’t, y’all should check it out. Enjoy.

I love music.  Its almost like I am a collector of music, something akin to a collector of fine wine.  What I want is something rare, that challenges my pallet, that pushes me to expand myself.

Off the Charts does that. Its a documentary about the Poem/Song industry.  Basically the Poem/Song industry got people to send in poems and then conned them into giving them money to use their poems as “lyrics,” which would be “published”.  Its really fascinating.  Its a little long, but if you love music the way I do, you should give it a look.

Its been a while since I gave Minor Threat a good listen.  But last night I saw a band cover this song. I couldn’t help but got back to their records.  Even thought their musicianship is somewhat suspect, its their energy and vivacity with which they perform that has me seeing red…Uhhh!

A Little Lost by Arthur Russell.  A definite must.  A cellist and sweetheart of the downtown music scene in NYC in the 80’s, a series of documentaries and reissues have raised his profile.

Sadly on April 4, 1992 he seccumb to AIDS related illness. Though he is no longer with us his music is still as moving as the day it was written.  For more info check here.

Is There a Ghost by Band of Horses

The first track off their new album Cease to Begin.  Cool song with a cool music video.  Pillow fight anyone?
